A follow-up to the post below on the HHS contraceptive mandate:
- The Ethics and Public Policy Center wrote an long but excellent article analyzing and breaking down the HHS mandate on four basic questions which essentially determines its constitutional viability. Predictably, the contraceptive mandate falls flat on all 4 questions. Again, it’s long but well worth a read if you care to understand the basic issue at hand.
- The Obama Administration says it is willing to work with Catholic institutions on the mandate. If you ask me, this is another ruse to get well intentioned Catholics to feel better about Obama. Of course, he promised Catholics back in 2009 that there would be a meaningful exemption clause in his healthcare plan to ensure that there would be no violation of conscience. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice….
